Thanksgiving in Maryland

This year for Thanksgiving we headed to Maryland to see the Brandt Family.  They were our first next door neighbors while we lived in Hyde Park, in Rexburg.  We haven't seen them in a little over a year.  Ryan finished school on Friday and had the whole week off.  We decided to head out on Tuesday and come home on Saturday.  It rained the whole way there.  Ryan was nice enough to drive while I played with my camera.

The first night that we were there we stayed up way too late talking.  We stayed the night 4 times and the earliest we went to bed was 1:30 and the latest at 4 (I know we are crazy).
Wednesday we headed over to the Frederick Public Library for story time...
Edmond just turned 2
Edmond is almost the same size as Christopher
The 3 boys
The Brandt's had a baby girl 2 weeks before we had Emily. We brought our girls home on the same day :)
Savannah and Emily are going to be great friends!
Emily looks like her Daddy not me!
For Thanksgiving we had a true FEAST! The BEST turkey EVER!! I really don't care for turkey but I couldn't get enough of the turkey that Richard made it was so good!  He soaked it in a brine over night and injected it before baking.

Table and Food: turkey, potatoes, gravy, corn, cottage cheese, apple butter, stuffing, rolls, homemade cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, jam, broccoli salad, and I am sure I am missing other things.
Three pies (apple and 2 pumpkin), a banana truffle, cheese ball, and veggie tray
What cute kids!

This year for Thanksgiving the three boys made place mats.

The day after Thanksgiving we headed to D.C. to play at Airport Park.  It is located by the Reagan Airport.  It's a big grassy field right by the landing strip at the airport.  The planes fly right over your head as they land.  Scott and Denisse and their kids came and joined us...

The sun was setting as we were leaving the observatory which made for great shadows
There were so many planes and things to see.  The entire time Nathanial ran from one plane/exhibit to the next yelling, "this is so cool" "this is the coolest thing ever".  It was really fun to see his excitement.  Ever since we flew to Idaho he says he wants to be a pilot.  This was really neat for him to see.
This shark plane was the boys' favorite

Out of all the planes and space things, Christopher's favorite was this forklift.

After we went to the Air and Space Museum we headed back to the Brandt's for pizza.  Mily enjoyed a few crusts.
Before we headed home on Saturday Catherine and I went to Costco for a few things and found these dolls.  They came with 2 in a box.  Both Catherine and I liked them but we didn't want two dolls.  So we split the cost and gave them to the girls.  They are their first "friendship dolls".
We were wasting time not wanting to leave and say goodbyes.  We sat around in the living room for a while until we HAD to leave.

This is the boys favorite part of the drive, the BIG tunnel
Thank you Richard and Catherine for letting us come to your home for Thanksgiving!  It was just the vacation that we needed! Now time to get ready for Christmas!
