June 2014

June has come and gone, the kids have been sleeping in which means that I have been too.  We get up between 9 and 10.  I use to be a morning person but after being married to Ryan for this long I think he has rubbed off on me.
Christopher would not sit still so we taped him to the chair

Wrapping paper rolls=lots of fun
We have had record rain fall this year and one night we received over 8 inches of rain. There is a drain at the far corner of our yard that the city installed to help with the water that collects in the alley. Apparently, the alley use to be a river bed. There was so much rain that the drain was backed up we kept watching to see if it was going to make it to our house. Fortunately, for us it didn't. But the neighbor with the white shed had his yard really flood and there is a another house that the garage flooded.
Our back yard filled with flood water at 11 PM June 17, 2014
While I was taking pictures of the flood water I was trying to capture some of the lightning. It was a lot of fun to try and guess when it was going to strike and where.  I was taking pictures for over 30 minutes and here is what I was able to get...
The weather has been crazy around here, we have had a high volume of tornadoes early on in the tornado season and with this it has brought large amounts of hail.

There has been a lot of damage to various things because of the amount of rain. This is the sidewalk just up the street from us, the rain water eroded under it and it collapsed...

We added a raised flower bed to the front of our house and planted Lilies, there were absolutely BEAUTIFUL this year...
For Father's Day this year Ryan received a weed whacker and has enjoyed working on the lawn with Nathanial...
On June 24th we went to a Sioux City Explorers baseball game.  It was a fun night. Ryan's office was sponsoring the ball throw for the night so we had free tickets.  It is a minor league baseball game so it doesn't compare to the Cleveland Indians but it was fun!

May 2014

I think with everything that is going on the blog has been pushed to the back burner which is too bad because the kids love to look at it and it has become my journal.  I am going to try to catch up.
On May 1 Benjamin turned 6 months, he is growing up too fast for me.  He is my little baby! The other three of my kids have all preferred Ryan, but Benjamin prefers me. This little guy just melts my heart. We took him to the doctor on the 2nd for his check up and he was 25 inches long (3rd percentile); he weighed 13 lbs. 8 oz. (1 percentile); and his head is 19 inches around (99th percentile).
Emily loves Benjamin!
On May 3rd-4th we had some friends from dental school come and visit. They have 2 little girls Evelyn and Eliza. Emily is right between them age wise. They played so cute together! They didn't stay long enough, I think we need to plan a trip to go and see them.
